I’m a third-year studying Public Policy from Lake Jackson, Texas. In my free time I enjoy being active, whether that be biking, hiking, or doing yoga. When I’m not free, I stress-bake cupcakes as the master form of procrastination, so expect a fresh batch before every tournament.

Jannat Batra

Hi, I’m a second year Literature, Media, and Communications major (yes, it’s real) from Norcross, GA. I’ve been in Mock Trial since my freshman year of high school, and I’m excited to continue it throughout college! I love being a witness because I can live vicariously through different characters without actually committing a felony. I’m not sure if I’ll go to law school, but I’m very passionate about the criminal defense system so this year I am doing a research internship on the school-to-prison pipeline. In my free time I like to play badminton, spoil my shih-tzu, or cozy up with a good book.

    John Browning

I am generally known as John Browning. I am interested in constitutional law and the dilution of philosophy into the political sphere, as well as brief bios. Thank you.

Picture
Maddie Bruning

Hey, I'm Maddie. I was going to go by Madeline in college, but I panicked on the first day of classes and introduced myself as Maddie, so Maddie it is. I'm a third-year public policy major from Athens, GA (THWg amirite?). If you want to start an argument with me, tell me that Calibri is a good font, that Avatar is a bad movie, or that the Oxford comma shouldn't be used, and I will fight you to the death. Otherwise, catch me in my ideal future as a lawyer who writes novels, speaks fluent French, rescues many dogs, and destroys any and all Patriots and Seahawks fans encountered. Au revoir!

Picture
Katie Burdette

Hey!  My name is Katie Burdette and I am a fourth year Chemical Engineering major from Cincinnati, OH.  While I would like to describe myself as hilarious and fun, my friends would be more apt to use words such as "weird" and "a major nerd."  In my spare time, I love dancing (badly), singing (badlier) and laughing at poorly executed rules of evidence arguments in legal dramas.   I can't wait to see where this year takes us!

Picture
Julia Chen
Hi! My name is Julia and I’m a first-year International Affairs and Modern Languages major. So far I've loved every minute of GTMT! Besides mock trial I’m really into theatre/playwriting. Basically, I like hearing myself talk (and sing I guess).

Elizabeth Phillips

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, and I’m a third year Economics major from Milton, Georgia. I’ve been doing mock trial for way too long, and I’m so excited to keep competing alongside my friends!  When I’m not pretending to have witnessed a crime, I like listening to podcasts, watching sitcoms, and taking long walks to the park with a smoothie in my hand. And playing with golden retrievers. I really like goldens.

Picture
Naman Sarda

Hi! I am a first year Computer Engineering Major from Princeton, New Jersey (not exactly but close enough). In my free time you can find me watching Psych or Phineas and Ferb, on some tennis courts, or throwing a disc around. My future is foggy at best, with something between tech consulting, tech law, or an MBA program being the goal (I have no idea). I’ve done Mock Trial since my junior year in high school and knew I wanted to continue in college. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 4 year has in store!

Harsha Sridhar

I'm a fifth year from Johns Creek, GA and a double major in Business and International Affairs. This is my eighth year doing mock trial (I dare you to ask me about my high school team). Outside of studying and mock trial, I'm the sports editor for the campus newspaper, a co-chair for SGA's public relations committee, and a Georgia Tech Ambassador. And a Packers fan. I'm excited for the coming season and looking forward to meeting our newest members!

Picture

I’m still a newbie to Mock Trial, but have been loving every minute of it.

I plan to obtain a law degree and become a patent lawyer at some point. I’m excited to see what this season has in store!

Picture
Chandler Woods

Hey y’all!  I’m Chandler and I’m from the great city of Kingsport, Tennessee.  (We have a song, look it up.)  I am a Public Policy major (RIP to my brief biochem stint).  My career aspirations are motivated by my experiences as a patient with rheumatoid arthritis, and I hope to one day work in the field of health and/or education policy.  In my free time, I’m probably following politics (yikes), singing gospel music in my room (sorry neighbors), or spending money that I do not have!  I also like to eat.  A lot.  My heart belongs in four places: Kingsport, Atlanta, Baton Rouge, and Romania.

Picture
Jiale Zheng

My name is Jiale (jaw-low), like a jaw that is low, but people call me jello (like the food). I’m a second year CS major from Johns Creek, GA and I pour my milk before I pour my cereal.

I had the privilege of graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2001, after which I graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in 2005. I coached several high school mock trial teams in upstate New York and the metro Atlanta area before coming on board to coach the Georgia Tech mock trial team in 2007.  In between my fulfilling and enjoying time with mock trial at my undergraduate alma mater (hopefully mutual for all parties involved), I previously practiced law with King & Spalding and Morris and Manning & Martin LLP, and I currently sit on the Board of Directors with several meaningful non-profit organizations.

I am a practicing litigation attorney with Hasner Law in Atlanta, where I specialize in representing injured workers in Georgia.  I attended Elon University and Elon University School of Law.  During my time at Elon, I founded and competed for Elon's mock trial team.  I continued to coach Elon during law school, and I worked as an Adjunct Professor for Elon University for two years after graduating from law school. I am also a Director on the Board for the American Mock Trial Association, where I have served as the Chair of the Tournament Administration Committee.  I am also a member of the Executive Committee for AMTA, and I am serving as President of AMTA from 2018 through 2020.  I was lucky enough to come on as a coach with Georgia Tech in 2014, and I look forward to coaching Georgia Tech for many years to come!

Picture
Matt Golino

Hi! My name is Matt and I help coach the Georgia Tech Mock Trial Team! I'm a GTMT alum and competed both as an attorney and witness throughout all five years of my undergrad at Tech. I graduated in 2016 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and took a break from trial to work as a software developer with General Motors for two years before coming back to Tech as a Master's student studying Human-Computer Interaction, which is how I spend most of my time when I'm not helping teach objection arguments and rules of evidence.

Elise Wilson

I am a second-year law student at Emory University School of Law. I am currently a competing member of the Emory School of Law Mock Trial Society, and I also competed on the undergrad mock trial team at the University of North Carolina. Before I coached at Tech, I coached three different high school mock trial teams and led all of them to victory at their regional competitions. Currently, I serve as a mock trial case author for both North Carolina High School Mock Trial and Empire Mock Trial. I am incredibly excited to be joining the Georgia Tech Mock Trial coaching squad this year, and look forward to a fun and successful season!
